Portsmouth Film Festival Saturday 3 - Sunday 11 October 2009 returns

Nine days packed with features, shorts, local premiers, projections, gigs and world cinema showing across a diverse range of venues in Portsmouth from the No6 and No3 Cinema's, the New Theatre Royal to Spitbank Fort, Big Screen in Guildhall Square, Gunwharf Quays, Fat Fox and Little Johnny Russels.

The 4th Portsmouth Film Festival will kick off with an even bigger drive-in movie on Southsea Common chosen by the readers of The News and a special performance by Nutkhut's Movieplex mixing film, art installation and live theatre in the centre of Gunwharf Quays.

Portsmouth has a developing film scene of young film makers and there will be opportunities for them to showcase their talents within a film submissions competition as well as 'Short Cuts'. There is also a strong and emerging cotemporary music scene emerging in the City and part of the 2009 Fringe programme will explore the links between film and music.

The Film Festival's gala night will be the premier of Sound Affairs live musical presentation of the film Salomé at the New Theatre Royal.

We will also be showcasing influential pop videos of the last 20 years, as well as providing opportunities for local musicians to compose and perform music alongside classic Films.

Many of the events are FREE - so check out the full programme for details now.
